Renewable Energy Projects

The Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) scheme has created a range of opportunities for landowners to generate significant financial benefits from a variety of renewable technologies. The FiT is potentially available to any owner or occupier of property and it is eminently possible to create a significant additional income stream. FiT’s enable landowners to benefit from reduced electricity prices; the creation of additional income through the generation of electricity; and further income from the sale of surplus electricity back in to the national grid. The FiT scheme is backed by the Government with payments being indexed linked and lasting for either 20 or 25 years.
Bagshaws offers independent professional advice to landowners and seeks to ensure that site potential is realised and projects are progressed with reliable and trustworthy developers.
The range of services we offer includes:-
- Identification of site-specific physical and financial options including those for wind turbines, solar photovoltaics (solar panels), hydropower and anaerobic digestion
- Promotion of sites to trusted developers
- Coordination of quotations and advice as to the most suitable option
- Negotiation of terms
- Town and Country planning applications for solar panels and wind turbines
- Advice on finance options available.
- Valuations of approved developments for secured lending
For those in high-wind areas, then turbines remain a very attractive option with planning authorities now having a greater understanding and familiarity for them. For locations with less exposure to the wind or which might be more visually contentious, then solar panels are an excellent alternative investment opportunity which have the potential to generate considerable returns.
For any Landowners with a watercourse running through their property, then hydropower can be the most efficient source of renewable energy generation, with payback periods as low as 5-years. Should you wish us to evaluate the potential of your brook or river for hydropower then please do not hesitate to contact us. The latest technology such as the Poncelet wheel (shown in the photograph on the right) can generate a minimum of 2kW of electricity from even a brook as long as there is a reasonable head and flow of water.
With changes to the Feed-in-Tariff due in April 2012 which are likely to reduce the payment for new entrants then it is recommended that anyone interested should contact us at the earliest opportunity in order to maximise the financial benefit.
