Before getting on to the Christmas Show, it is nice to take that opportunity to thank both vendors and buyers for their support throughout the year. We have enjoyed excellent numbers throughout the season and we are grateful for everyone’s assistance.

The show and sale today was highly successful. First a thanks to our judge for the day, Mr Danny Hill of M Najib & Son, who competed that ask very competently and diligently.

Champion of the day went to regular vendors David & Jane Williams of Basford for an excellent pair of 39.5kg lambs. They saw very spirited bidding, eventually being secured by Lee Machin of Manifold Valley Meats for 660p/kg to gross £260.70/head.

Next in the headline was another regular vendor, Mr Ron Tomkinson of Butterton who won first prize in the pair of 42kg and over class, who sold his 43kg lambs at 308p/kg and purchased by the judge on behalf of M Najib & Son.

First place in the pen of 5 lambs in the 42kg and over class went to David & Jane Williams again which sold for 300p/kg to M Najib & Son.

Many other show lambs to 240p + and a big thank you to vendors and buyers for their assistance.

Away from the show trade for commercial lambs would be a little sharper, particularly for the handy weights which were generally 180p - 210p/kg. Heavy lambs still seeing a harder trade but the best to 228p for 47kg. Overall average of 192p/kg SQQ or 183p/kg overall.
