We are pleased to report another successful property auction here in Bakewell. Seven lots were put forward, with all lots selling for figures well in excess of the guide prices to a packed auction room. The auction room was busy sometime before the auction, with a palpable sense of anticipation before proceedings got underway.
The first two lots of land at Alfreton of 2.53 and 0.15 acres were highly sought after and sold for £40,000 and £30,000 respectively. One particular highlight was Hagg Wood, Whatstandwell, a 3.97 acre parcel that fetched in excess of £15,000/ac, evidence that perhaps money does grow on trees ..….. in Whatstandwell at least!
9.25 acres of land to the rear of Pineapple Farm, on the outskirts of Bakewell sold well, with the hammer falling at £140,000. The remaining three lots of between two and six acres at Parwich all sold for upwards of £10,000/acre.
Once again, this sale provides a reminder that for the right properties, auction can secure really strong values by harnessing competition in the room, with the additional benefit of a 10% deposit being received on the day, and completion 28 days thereafter.
