Countryside Stewardship
Countryside Stewardship is a government scheme that provides incentives for land managers to look after the environment.
The scheme is open to all eligible farmers, woodland owners, foresters and other land managers through a competitive application process. There are three main elements within the scheme and we can help with each application process:
- mid-tier – multi-year agreements for environmental improvements in the wider countryside
- higher tier – multi-year agreements for environmentally significant sites, commons and woodlands
- capital grants – a range of 1 to 2 year grants for projects such as hedgerows and boundaries, improving water quality and woodland creation
In addition, we can also provide on-going support of existing Entry Level (ELS) and Higher Level (HLS) schemes.
