Bakewell Market Thursday Lunchtime Sheep Sale Thursday 26th February

515 Sheep including 339 Lambs, 109 Ewes & Rams & 67 Store Sheep

 

A total entry of 515 sheep included 339 lambs. Best butchers lambs in short supply but still topped at 420p/kg twice, best butchers heavy lambs to £190/head.  Overall average 353.98p/kg.

109 Cull Sheep

Just 109 cull ewes and rams on offer still remained briskly bid for with a large proportion of hill sheep in the entry.  Blue Texels to £270, Dutch Spotted to £218, Dorsets to £170 and Mules to £138.

 

Store Sheep

In the store section 35 feeding lambs saw long term Texel x to £124 ave £100.40.

 

Still in lamb ewes coming forward with two good lots on offer this week both having only run with the ram, not scanned.
