Eight lots were entered into Bagshaws Bakewell Property Auction at the Agricultural Business Centre and eight lots were successfully sold with some remarkable prices being realized.
The first two lots were at Sheen, Buxton. The first, a stone barn without planning permission together with seven acres witnessed bidding from a number of parties, and sold for £220,000. The second lot, a block of 15.9 acres of pasture made £136,000.
Four lots at Castleton were next offered to the room. Lot 1 was a stone barn, again without planning permission, together with 3.86 acres. This realized a remarkable £240,000, however the next two lots of 1.87 acres and 2.73 acres were perhaps the ones that outstripped all expectations, with the hammer falling at £90,000 (£48,128/ac) and £90,000 (£32,967/ac) respectively. A further 6.35 acres at Castleton was sold for £86,000 (£13,543/ac).
The appetite in the room was seemingly unsatisfied, with 1.22 acres located off Soft Water Lane, Bradwell, that included a small building and mobile stable achieving £30,000 (£24,590/ac). Finally, 7.5 acres of mixed mature woodland at Cutthorpe was sold for £46,000 (£6,133/ac).
Ed Lawley, the auctioneer on the day remarked “With all lots sold, and for some extraordinary prices, this sale again illustrates the benefits of a sale by auction for the right type of property. Such prices couldn’t have been foreseen with any other means of sale. Not only that, our vendors have the benefit of a 10% deposit having being paid, and completion in 28 days”
