Similar numbers again as the Autumn sales continue and the cow passengers continue to be sold before the onset of Winter. Trade very much on a par with last week with the average up about 4 pence on the week. As with last week the best fleshed cows are at a premium with less about and the feeding cows also look well sold to a big company of potential buyers. Cows peaked today at 222p for a pure Limousin cows from Robert Hardy, Waterhouses. Better cows 190p plus with a big lot of continental sorts 180-200 and a run of Hereford cows either side of 30 months, but all calved at 160-180p.

LESS ON OFFER – TRADE UP
An October grass day and Maize carting on vendors minds more than selling cattle. With numbers short and demand strong, trade was superb from start to finish and many more could have been sold to vendors’ advantage.
