Livestock & Dairy: Bakewell Market
BAKEWELL MARKET REPORT 01-03-2021
A very busy market at Bakewell with 671 cattle and 1,521 sheep on offer, so plenty of stock, but buyers only around the rings with ‘Drop & Go’ very much the order of the day.
COVID19 is still at large and we make no apologies for the measures needed to keep customers and staff safe.
In an effort to assist vendors of OTM and Finished Cattle unable to attend the sale in person we have installed live streaming from the ‘Prime ring’ for the first time this week. To view the sale you need to use the link: streaming.auctionmarts.com
Whilst now on the subject of innovation we’re planning to start holding ‘Orange Markets’ to assist vendors who are under TB restriction.
These sales will be for Store Cattle, Finished Cattle and OTM stock which may go to an AFU or to slaughter under licence.
There are precise rules governing these sales, but if you want to know more, speak to Alastair Sneddon on 07973 982441 or Oliver Hiles on 07801 530899

There were 414 Store & Breeding cattle with the trade up yet another notch.

The 102 finished cattle reached top figures of 260p and £1,716 per head.
To put things in perspective the average for the 59 heifers was an outstanding 219.2p

The overall average was a hefty 135.1p with the average price per head for cows a remarkable £922.
A few more calves about with 41 in total, bulls made up to £375 and heifers £350.
In the sheep section there was plenty going on and levels of trade were well up to expectation.
