STORE & BREEDING CATTLE – (Auctioneers Alastair Sneddon & Meg Elliott)

An excellent show of store & breeding cattle sold on a fantastic trade with prices up another level and some outstanding results achieved.

The auctioneer drew attention to the new note in the catalogue regarding unwanted pregnancies in store heifers.  This is a serious welfare issue and we ask for your co operation in reducing the problem.  The clause reads this:

HEIFERS

Important note: if you are selling store heifers- Unwanted pregnancies.

If you have any doubt whatsoever that the heifers you are selling might be in calf, please tell us so that it can be declared at the time of sale.

All store heifers are sold `clear of the bull` unless you tell us otherwise and unexpected pregnancies cause all sorts of problems.

Thank you for your help with this.

The sale started with a special entry of Pedigree Belted Galloway cattle from Neil Richardson of Longnor.  These attracted a great deal of interest with cow and calf outfits selling as follows:

£1910 Gall Cow, 80 mnths & Hfr Calf
£1700 Gall Cow, 91 mnths & Hfr Calf
£1660 Gall Cow, 155 mnths & Hfr Calf
£1700 Gall Hfr, 29 mnths in calf
£1,300 Gall Stock Bull, 37 mnths

£820 AA x 17 mnths R Slack, Wingfield
£480 Fries 8 mnths GJ Tideswell, Uttoxeter

156 Steers ave £1104
