121 BARREN, OTM AND FEEDING COWS overall ave 246.9p/kg or £1640

(Auctioneer Oliver Hiles)

11 pence dearer on the week

Yes, they are more money again with all of the buyers upping their bid price in order to secure cows.  12 cattle today sold over £3/kilo and an unbelievable 24 crossed the £2000 mark.  A one calf, 32 mnth old Limmy x heifer from Frank Lomas made 337p (£2089) with other younger things 317-334p.  Best cow was a 7 year old Limmy from the Wells family at 306p (£2142).

Plenty of well fed cross bred cows 270-300p.  Trade is as hot as ever for cows.  If you have not sold any for a while, why not give us a try at Bakewell?

460 Cull Sheep

(Auctioneers Mark Elliott & Holly Swift)

With another big entry the biggest framed Mules and the best Suffolks still a very strong trade, but in fairness we could have done with some very best Texels to fulfil a few orders.

Generally, trade in line with last week but the better end Gritstones and Swales a few pounds dearer, but they must have flesh.

Top call £240 for the Hawksworths at Shardlow with the Mellors at Doncaster and the Harrisons of Priestcliffe over £215/head.

The killing tups good to sell, but yet again flesh is needed to maximise.  Texels to £259 for Neil Pearson with Charolais to £238 for David Wood.
