Livestock & Dairy: Bakewell Market

Bakewell Market Report Monday 9th June

Rather busier than expected with 849 cattle and 962 sheep on offer at a time of year when numbers generally dry up somewhat for the Summer.

Sheep prices heading in the opposite direction with lambs considerably dearer.

The store & breeding cattle numbers crept just over the yardstick with 507 on offer.

Whilst there has been a slight reduction in values in all cattle departments trade is still brisk and prices remain generally strong.

Young cattle remain very dear and it is the short finish cattle that have slipped slightly in recognition of reduced deadweight prices for finished stock.

These are typical results for today’s sale across the age range.
