Livestock & Dairy: Bakewell Market
Bakewell Market Report 2021-08-31
The last Tuesday market of the year was well supported with 921 Sheep but there were only 115 Cattle on offer.
Those vendors who did consign stock were well pleased with the results and a good trade prevailed in all sections.
Only 60 Store and breeding cattle forward, but they sold at similar prices to last weeks exceptional trade with the Steers to £1160 and heifers £970 within the rather limited selection.
Only a handful of Finished Cattle which looked well sold with top figures 252p and £1853. The overall average being 225p.
The small entry of OTM and feeding cows had examples at 193p and £1196. The average for a rather mixed sample was 130.7p.
A nice selection of 26 calves attracted plenty of interest with Bulls to £480 and Heifers £210.
In the Sheep department the 719 lambs made their money with top figures 290p and £130.56. The SQQ and the overall average were the same at 241p.
There were 202 Cull Sheep an entry with a good many plain sorts on offer. The top price was a healthy £179 but the average at £78.11 demonstrates the quality of the sample.

Other News-Store Cattle List Covers
After many months of thinking up humorous and cryptic front covers for the weekly store list, I have run out of ideas. So, we are going to try something different.
If you have an entry a future week either send me a photograph or we are more than happy to come out and take one and we will put it on the front of the Store List.
