Bakewell Market Report 01-11-2021

BAKEWELL MARKET

Monday 1st November

Despite the wet weather conditions over the weekend which extended in to Monday morning a respectable entry of stock was on offer with at total of 730 cattle and 1595 sheep.

Finished cattle would be up on last week with top prices of 316p/kg and £2084 per head.  The entry totalled 34 Heifers, 49 Steers and 23 Bulls and strong demand for all.

The 106 OTM being up on last week with all commodities in strong demand and top prices 200 p/kg and £1493 per head.

An increased entry of Store Cattle included 34 Breeding Cattle and 430 Stores.  Trade was strong for all types and the increased entry attracting an additional influx of buyers with tops of £1450 for Steers, £1265 for Heifers and £1105 for the Bulls and cow & calf outfits to £1930.

An increased entry of calves also saw a strong trade for all with Heifers to £295 and Bulls to £282.

Sheep numbers back on last week, no doubt due to the wet weather conditions but the lamb trade firmer to average 248.42p/kg and a top price of £140 per head.  Cull Ewes still in strong demand, best to £162/head.
