Livestock & Dairy: Bakewell Market

Bakewell Market Report 06-06-2022

 BAKEWELL MARKET

Monday 6th June 2022

The post Jubilee Monday Market was a shade less busy than usual with 497 Cattle and 737 Sheep on offer.  Whether, this was weather related or due to the aftermath of celebrations is hard to determine.  But if stock was in short supply buyers were out in force and trade good in all sections.

There were 269 Store & Breeding Cattle with trade even dearer than last week.

Steers reached £1,470, Heifers £1,360 and Feeding Bulls £900.

In the breeding section cows & calves sold to £1,680 and feeding cows £1,080.

Finished cattle numbered 114 with top figures 311p/kg and £2,052 per head.

The 43 heifers averaged 256.6p and £1,543 per head a good illustration of the level of trade.  Finished bulls topped at 292p and £1,966.
