STORE LAMB SALE

An excellent start to the Store Sheep Sale Season with 2009 lambs forward and a large gathering of purchasers present from a wide geographic area.
Trade very sharp from start to finish to a top of £105 and an overall average of £82.79 per head, up £11.50 on the same sale last year.
A highlight of todays sale was an excellent entry of lambs from AC Simpson, Bradwell selling to £105 and an overall average returned at a very credible £97/head.
Many purchasers returned home short of requirements and a large entry is required for the next sale on Friday 27th August.

A total of 953 slaughter sheep on offer this week included 801 Lambs. Demand for best fleshed sorts still very good with brisk bidding for these regardless of weight. Best butchers lambs peaked at 279p/kg with heavy weight butchers lambs to 268p/kg. Top gross price today was 126/head. The overall average 235.13p/kg
