THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT

321 Finished Lambs, 213 cull sheep and 42 store sheep

 

A smaller show of 576 sheep included 165 new season lambs with demand much improved on last week.  Best sorts sold to 352p/kg with an overall average 326.94p/kg.

120 Hoggs

Still 120 old season lambs forward but quality very mixed.  Best meated sorts peaked at 290p/kg and £140/head, overall average 226.51p/kg.

 

213 Cull Sheep

A very good entry of 213 cull ewes and rams saw very brisk bidding despite rumours that the trade had collapsed.  Three excellent Texel rams from Andrew Beechener topped the day at £168, with best Texel ewes to £146, heavy Mule ewes sold in the £110-£120/head bracket.
