Bakewell Market Thursday Lunchtime Sheep Sale 08-08-2024

A seasonal entry of 537 sheep included 345 new season lambs.  Demand for the meated and stronger sorts very good throughout.  A smart lamb from Elsie Ford topped the day at 350p/kg with dad Graham having the same price for his first pen.  Overall average 287.09p/kg.

Cull Sheep

In the cull sheep a total of 144 on offer of which over half were Swales.  Best Texel ewes peaked at £195/head with Texel x ewes to £172, Mules to £138, Swales to £108, Longwools to £109 and Cheviot to £122.

 

Ewes to £195   ave £105.85

 

 

Just one long term store lamb sold at £70.
