THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT
13th January 2022
1,048 Sheep including 865 Finished Lambs, 140 Cull Sheep and 43 Store Lambs
A very good entry of 1048 head of sheep included 865 lambs. Despite trade dipping in the other local centres, trade at the Thursday sale at Bakewell remained very good with an overall average of 261.34p/kg, which included several pens of Mules and plainer hill bred lambs. Best Texel lambs peaked at 325p/kg with 4 pens over 310p/kg. The top gross today of £143.96/head.

Cull Sheep
In the Cull Sheep a smaller entry of 140 saw trade very brisk for all types with several grazing buyers operating. Best heavy Suffolk ewes to £169, Texels to £160, heavy Mules sold in the £110 – £125 bracket and horned ewes in the £65-£85 bracket.

Feeding lambs
A small show of 43 Feeding Lambs still in demand despite a dip in finished prices. Texels to £101.
