THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT

1131 Sheep including 703 Finished Hoggs, 182 Cull Sheep and 246 Store Sheep
An outstanding entry of 1131 Sheep included 182 Cull Sheep and 246 Store & Breeding Sheep.
703 Finished Hoggs Ave 248.38p/kg
A more difficult lamb trade with all types back on last weeks trade. Well finished Hoggs commanding a premium but still a number of under finished and horned hoggs reflecting the reduced average. Top price of £133 per head and 305p/kg.

Charles Gregory, Hassop kindly donated a hogg to The Ukraine Appeal raising a total of £250.
182 Cull Sheep
A very good show of 182 Cull Ewes and Rams saw demand still up with recent weeks high levels. Best Ewes were in short supply creating very brisk bidding to peak at £159/head for Continentals with Mules in the £110-£130 bracket and horned ewes in the £50-£85 range.

246 Store Sheep
An excellent entry of 246 Store Sheep included 118 Feeding Lambs with a wide range of quality, demand still good throughout. Best Texels peaked at £85, Char x to £84.
Just 3 lots of Ewes & Lambs saw Texels to £200 and Mules to £180.
Possibly the last sale of In-Lamb Ewes for the season attracted a lot of interest with Mule Ewes scanned in lamb to £160, Continentals Ewes r/w ram to £138 and Cheviot x Ewes to £74.
