THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT

944 Sheep including 601 Finished Hoggs, 252 Cull Sheep and 57 Store Sheep

 

 601 Hoggs ave 253.30p/kg

A large proportion of hill bred lambs affecting the overall average, but a strong trade throughout with a top price of 338p/kg.

252 Cull Sheep

A tremendous entry of 252 Cull Sheep saw demand as high as recent weeks with all types looking very well sold.  Grazing buyers looking to try and buy resulting in the plain sorts perhaps slightly dearer.  Best Texels to £194, Cheviots to £149, Blue Texels to £180, Mules to £145, Suffolks to £141, BFL to £140 and Horned Ewes to £125.

 

91 Store & Breeding Sheep

A few tail end feeding lambs sold to £78.

In the Ewes & Lambs just 59 on offer, but a large crowd of prospective purchasers all out to buy quality outfits which were on offer, many more were needed to fill demand at Bakewell.  Beltex ewes with single ewe lambs to £370, Beltex ewes with single ram lambs to £340, Cheviot ewes with twins to £222, Texel twins to £202, Texel singles to £190.  Two lots of ewe hoggs saw Mules to £120 and Herdwicks to £100.
