THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT

715 Sheep including 40 Spring Lambs, 211 Finished Hoggs, 112 Cull Sheep and 352 Store Sheep

 

 

40 Spring Lambs ave 332.70p/kg

Trade well in line with the national trend for a small entry with a top price of 350p/kg.

 

Leading Prices:

30.3kg 340p/kg L Wright, Hartington
40.2kg 350p/kg SM & JA Rigley, Bakewell
44.0kg 342p/kg M Standerwick, Tamworth

 

211 Hoggs ave 248p/kg

Very much a tail end entry but those with cover still keenly sought after to a top of 275p/kg.

 

112 Cull Sheep

A smaller entry of 112 cull ewes and rams saw trade still brisk after the end of festival with heavyweight ewes to £156 to average £97.21 and rams £146 average £85.

Amongst the entry was a goat dispersal which attracted may different customers after a last-minute advert on facebook.

343 Store & Breeding Sheep

An outstanding entry of 343 Store & Breeding sheep saw buyers from all surrounding counties as well as Derbyshire.  The best shaped Texel outfits attracted very brisk bidding with prices even up on recent high levels and more could have been sold to vendors advantage.
