THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT

559 Sheep including 54 Finished Lambs, 115 Finished Hoggs, 139 Cull Sheep and 251 Store Sheep
54 Finished Lambs ave 310.47p/kg
Just a small entry well bid for to a top of 340p/kg and £130/head from L Wright, Hartington.
115 Hoggs ave 228.16p/kg
Very much a tail end entry, but better types still in demand to a top of 290p/kg from HJ Hitchcock, Whitewells Lane.
139 Cull Sheep
139 cull ewes and rams saw demand still very brisk with several grazing buyers trying to select suitable ewes to turnout, as a result all types look well sold on the day. Best ewes to £140 ave £96.60. Rams to £160 ave £143.
251 Store & Breeding Sheep
A total of 251 store & breeding sheep included 31 ewes hoggs with a tremendous trade considering they were only running types, with these selling to £126/head.
In the ewes & lambs more potential buyers present saw trade as dear, if not dearer than recent weeks high levels and several men went home with empty trailers. Demand is there for all types so keep the families coming to fill demand at Bakewell.
