THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT

7th July 2022

728 Sheep including 416 Finished Lambs, 305 Ewes & Rams & 7 Store Sheep

 

A total entry of 728 sheep included 370 new season lambs.  With many abattoirs full on numbers ready for the festival demand was limited, with only stronger well meated sorts wanted.  Best butchers lambs peaked at 328p/kg with heavy butchers lambs to 316p/kg and top gross of £151/head.

The overall average 294.69p/kg.

In the Old Season Lambs a total of 46 saw best to 202p/kg to average 174.81p/kg.

 

305 Cull Sheep

A tremendous entry of 305 cull ewes and rams included a large proportion of plainer and hill bred ewes which was reflected in the overall average.  Best Texels to £153 with Suffolks to £130 and Mules to £119.

Just 7 Store Sheep saw ewes and lambs to £128
