THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT
12th January 2023
NEW SELLING SYSTEM FOR THURSDAY SHEEP SALES AT BAKEWELL
Todays sale followed a different formula with sheep sold through a race in the cattle ring and then penned up into buyers pens in the cattle shed. This was well received with the sale proceeding swiftly and allowing a closer inspection of the sheep and swift loading up after the sale.
672 Sheep including 425 Finished Hoggs, 219 Culls & 28 Store Hoggs
425 Hoggs ave 223.72/kg
Not surprisingly a reduced entry given the wet weather conditions with trade very much following the national trend with well finished sorts commanding a significant premium but a number of under finished sorts within the entry affecting the average accordingly.
