THURSDAY LUNCHTIME SHEEP SALE REPORT

1009 Sheep including 877 Finished Lambs & 132 Cull Sheep

 

A very good entry of 1009 head of sheep included 870 New Season Lambs.  Demand good for meated sorts with Miss Elsie Ford selling ‘Fredo’ a 46kg Texel x lamb at 300p/kg and grossing £138 being bought by Harry James for Staffordshire Meat Packers.  Other butchers lambs sold to 279p/kg (twice) with numerous pens 250p/kg plus.  The overall average 235.99p/kg.

 132 Cull Sheep

The 132 Cull Ewes & Rams saw demand as good as ever seen this year with heavy Texel Ewes peaking at £154 with 3 other lots at £150, but the dearest by a long way were the plainer Mule ewes.  Heavy weight rams sold to £182 & £170.
