Livestock & Dairy: Bakewell Market

The first sale of quality suckled calves of the year took place on Friday with a total entry of 794.  It is undoubtably one of the best quality entries ever received at a Bakewell Sale.  All buyers had pre notified of their attendance and had come for all, with buying support from Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Cheshire as well as the surrounding counties.

The standard of cattle improves year on year and it was a pleasure to be able to offer good matched, even bunches of cattle in the ring and the buyers were keen to acquire the quality on offer.  The sale progressed quickly with the cattle arrived, unloaded, sorted and sold by 1.45pm.

Trade was absolutely unbelievable from start to finish with the average up for all their sections a true measure of the quality on offer.

Bagshaws would like to thank the buyers for attending the sale at a difficult time and for abiding by the rules in the market.  Also, thanks to the High Peak farmers for producing some marvellous cattle to sell, the hauliers and drivers did a super job of getting the cattle to the market in good time and most of the cattle were on their way to their new home by pm with only a second few loads to go after that.

The next sale will be held on Friday 19^th February 2021 with good entries expected and needed to satisfy the buyers requirements.
