The first sale of quality suckled calves of the year took place on Friday with a total of 709 cattle in the shed. The ‘January Sale’ has become the sale has become the sale for quality to start the year with a bang and this year was no different. Buyers turned out in force to secure the quality with buyers from all over the uk.
The standard of cattle improves year on year and this year was no exception with less ‘bottom end’ types about with run after run of well bred single suckled Lim/BB/Char and Blonde calves on offer. The cattle were sold in well matched even bunches with an odd special sold on its own. The sale started at 10.30 with the bulls and progressed quickly with all cattle sold before 2pm and all cattle away to their new homes by 5 o clock.
Trade was absolutely sensational from the start with the average way up again this year on the back of some hefty price rises at this sale in 2021.
