The High Peak Livestock Society January Sale
Friday 20th January 2022
The first and most important sale of the year was the January edition of the High Peak Livestock Society suckled calf sale. A total of 726 cattle made it to Bakewell on an icy morning on the roads and still plenty of snow evident in the fields due to the wintery weather we have had over the previous week. None of this did anything to deter any buyers who travelled from all corners to come to Bakewell to bid for the quality on offer.
The standard of cattle improves year on year and once again we were treated to an absolute tremendous show of cattle with run after run of well bred, single suckled Lim, B Blue, Char and Blonde calves on offer.
The sale started promptly at 10.30 and the last heifer was knocked down at 2pm and all but the last couple of loads away by 4.30pm.
Trade was absolutely sensational from start to finish with the averages way up again on the year as they have been for the last 3 years.
Bagshaws would like to thank all vendors, purchasers and hauliers for making the ‘January Sale’ a memorable success once again. We now have the book open for the February sale on Friday 17th February for which we invite a good entry.
