One of the finest shows of suckled calves ever seen in Bakewell for a Friday sale was witnessed today when the HPLS hosted their annual spring calf sale. 430 cattle were entered with only one consignment failing to be forward on the day.
With the present trade for finished cattle at an all-time high, the buyers were out in force to refill with high quality suckled calves for summer grazing.
Trade for the cattle can only be described as electric with fast bidding from the start with buyers keen to secure a good load. The vast majority of the cattle were Spring & Summer 2022 born with nearly all of them under 12 months of age.
The sale progressed quickly with the cattle arriving in good even sized bunches which was certainly appreciated by an enthusiastic group of buyers.
Bagshaws would like to thank all for making the Spring calf sale a huge success. The buyers for pushing their necks out to secure the cattle and the vendors for putting their trust in Bagshaws to sell their stock.
Averages were way up on the year once again as they were in 2022.
