Scorching Trade at Leek Pedigree Sale
Top of £2660
21 Over £2000
A truly blistering trade at the January Pedigree Sale at Leek saw a top of £2660, 21 pass the £2000 mark and all the milkers average an unbelievable £2039.
Admittedly there was plenty of quality on offer with vendors producing some superb animals for sale.
Leading the trade for cows were the Easom family of Oakerthorpe who yet again presented an enviable group of cows. A third calver Broomhouse Garde Alicia 6065, by one of their homebred bulls had given just short of 9800kg last time. Sold giving 42kg she was purchased by Bill Bradbury and family of Earl Sterndale at £2240. The Easoms group of 4 cows averaged £2173. Numerous other cows passed £2000 including a second calver from the Broadley family of Hartington at £2120 to Messrs Bradbury of Youlgreave.
Heifer trade surpassed all expectations with many, many highlights. Leading the day at £2660 was John Allan of Tutbury with his heifer Leaventhorpe Allclass Spot. Bred from the noted Spot family from the Sterndale Herd of Messrs Nadin she was sold giving 33kg and was clinched by Andrew Hulme of Basford.
Only moments before a Goodwhone daughter Alsopdale Goodwhone Duchess 688 from Andrew Bunting of Bakewell reached £2600 to Messrs Bradbury of Earl Sterndale.
Hot in pursuit at £2560 was a beautiful Claynook Denim Daughter, Meldamar Denim Ruth 110 from the Shepherd family of Bakewell. She also went to Andrew Hulme with a second from the same home reaching £2460 to V Truman of Melton Mowbray. The Sutton family of Astbury, Congleton showed a lovely row of 5 heifers which made £2480, £2440,
£2300, £2240 and £2160 to average an fantastic £2324. Regular vendor Ray Turner of Rownall saw his Dubthorne Addiction Jordan Red daughter reach £2400 also to Messrs Truman.
More milkers are needed to satisfy the growing demand so please get in touch if you have stock to sell.
