A funny trade for milkers at the May pedigree sale, no doubt not helped by the good silaging weather.

Top call for black & white’s was £2320 for a Batman daughter from the Shepherd family of Bakewell, giving 32kg she went to Andrew Neville of Matlock. Another Batman daughter from the same home reached £2280 to Messrs Howell of Yarlet.

Andrew Stone, Onecote saw his Bidlea Isaac daughter reach £2240 to Messrs Sellors of Grangemill.

Cows peaked at £2180 for a second calver from the Needham family of Rushton.

In-calf heifer from Richard Lomas of Calow reached £1620 with calves topping at £290.

The special entry of Shorthorns were very well received with a heifer from Messrs Hole of Ashover topping at £2300 to Messrs Malkin of Stone. Cows topped at £1820 for a third calver from Richard Harper. Several commercial shorthorn heifers from the Hollinworth family of Ashover topped at £1110.

Youngstock from the Bailey family of Oswestry sold particularly well with a September born heifer by Tanat Valleyrun making £640 with others to £620 and £600.
