Theaves and Ewe Sale

The catalogued entry of 4919 sheep comprising 4644 Theaves and 275 Ewes, drew a large gathering of purchasers from both far and near with a good solid trade from start to finish.

The quality of stock were a credit to vendors with a particular feature being a large run of sheep from Messrs D & S Ede Ltd, Cubley, which topped the sale at £230 per head.

Averages were returned at £165 per head for Texels, £154 for Mules, £172 for Cheviots and £133 for Suffolks, being up on the same sale last year.

The sale was preceeded by a show for both Mule and Texel Shearlings, with additional sponsorship being provided Bagshaws to mark their 150^th year, judging being kindly provided by Mark Rowlinson, Ramshorn, with results as follows:
