Livestock & Dairy: Bakewell Market

Bakewell Market Store Sheep Friday 7th November

STORE LAMBS AVERAGE £119.23/HEAD

A total of 4,324 sheep in the catalogue drew a large gathering of purchasers from a wide geographical area with over 30 potential purchasers counted at ringside for the store lambs.

These looked even dearer than a fortnight ago with a top of £158.  Looking best sold of all would be the smaller long term lambs within the entry.

Just a small entry of breeding sheep as expected for the time of year with Mule shearlings to £280 and older continental ewes to £305, while tups topped at £310.

The sale also included the usual charity pen sold on behalf of the High Peak Livestock Society with the proceeds going to Ashgate Hospice.  This raised £898 comprising £641 raised from the auction and £257 from the collection.

The next sale is in a fortnight (21st November) for which we are still taking entries.
