Bakewell Market Thursday Lunchtime Sheep Sale Thursday 12th February

485 Sheep including 254 Lambs, 152 Ewes & Rams & 79 Store Sheep

 

A seasonal entry of 485 head of sheep included 254 finished lambs, despite trade dropping in several places mid week, demand for the lighter weight sorts was very brisk with only the over weights being harder to place.  Best butchers lambs sold to 400p/kg with lighter weights to 370p/kg.  Overall SQQ of 339p/kg.

Cull Sheep

In the cull sheep a total of 152 on offer of all shapes and sizes saw all the best shaped Texels £160 plus with a top of £178.  A pen of Lleyn ewes selling at £151, several pens of plain horned ewes looked very well sold on the day in the £45-£60 bracket.
