Vacancy for a full-time Secretary/Receptionist at Bakewell office

About the Bakewell office:
- Based centrally within the country, Bakewell is a beautiful place to work, within one of the most visited National Parks in the world. Our office is located in the Agricultural Business Centre, just two footbridges from the middle of town.
- You will be joining a secretarial/admin team to support the work of the Bakewell Office.
The role:
- We are looking to recruit a secretary at our friendly Bakewell office. This post is a full time role 9am to 5.30pm each day with an unpaid hour for lunch (plus working 1 in 5 Saturday mornings).
- You will be a member of the administration team based at The Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell. The role will involve providing secretarial cover to include preparing documents relating to our livestock market, providing reception cover, filing, preparing and chasing invoices and all other aspects of administration that helps to keep our busy office running.
- The role will also include involvement with our estate agency team; arranging viewings, chasing feedback and assisting with sales progression.
- You will be friendly, outgoing, a good communicator and used to working independently in a busy office environment. You will be able to multi-task and prioritise your workload effectively whilst producing work to a high standard. You will also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and be educated to GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Whilst the candidate may come from rural background, this is desirable but not essential.

The Role
You’ll work on a diverse range of instructions, including:
- Valuation of rural and agricultural property for a variety of purposes
- Land and estate management, working with both traditional and institutional clients
- Agricultural tenancy matters, including succession, rent reviews, and end-of-tenancy issues
- Compulsory purchase and compensation work involving utilities and infrastructure schemes
- Planning and development, including promotion and option agreements
- Environmental and agri-environment schemes, including an interest in Natural Capital, Biodiversity Net Gain, and emerging land use markets
You’ll also be part of a team providing strategic advice to farming clients and landowners on diversification and business planning.
About You
We welcome interest from surveyors with significant experience. We are looking for surveyors with a passion for rural property, an ability to build client relationships, and a willingness to grow and contribute to our team.
You will ideally have:
- RICS qualification (essential)
- VRS registration (desirable)
- CAAV membership or willingness to work towards it
- Proven experience as a fee earner in a professional environment
- Familiarity with relevant software and digital tools
- A positive, proactive mindset and an ability to work independently
- An interest in mentoring junior colleagues or contributing to the firm’s development (if more experienced)
