Outstanding Midlands Crowd at Derbyshire Event

The retirement dispersal on behalf of Barry and Angela Sargent at Etwall attracted a massive crowd as the family have been on the holding for three generations and in addition there was the non-vat dispersal of vintage tractors on behalf of the Brockley Family.

Purchasers attended from Wales, Yorkshire and way to the South with spirited bidding on all lots from start to finish.

The star of the show in the Livestock Equipment was the IAE Chieftain Galvanised Squeeze Crush which was purchased by one of the neighbours at £4,000 with a galvanised calving gate c/w Post at £440 and the Bateman Galvanised Single Unit Cattle Crush at £620.

  • The Case 85C 2WD Tractor had only undertaken 901 hours owned from new (2015 Plate) at £23,500
  • Case JX90 4WD c/w Quicke Loader and Bucket (3,880-09’ Plate) at £23,500 as well.

Mr and Mrs Sargent’s Volvo V70 car showing 148,000 miles achieved £910 with the farms Honda Fourtrax Auto DCT 2019 Quad at £4,650.

As detailed, there was massive interest in the additional non-vat entry of Vintage tractors on behalf of the Brockley family with;

A very smart entered Massey Ferguson 1520 4WD (2019-only 71 Hours) achieved a massive £9,050 with a little used Case International 495 2WD (owed new-H Reg-Local-non-vat at £8,600.

In the Yard Items;

The undoubted star of the show was a superb Heavy Duty Steel Horse Trough which achieved massive £2,000 to a local collector with Stone Troughs up to £500 and Pairs of Alloy Churns with Lids up to £220 per set.

The dairy ring was packed on Tuesday know doubt drawn by the large numbers on offer, with trade surpassing all expectations.

Pedigree vendors presented some fantastic animals for sale and were well rewarded for their efforts.

Cows peaked at £3000 for a powerful second calver by Horst Allard from the Mellor family of Earl Sterndale. Giving 45kg she was clinched by John Bayley of Nuneaton.

Hot in pursuit was another second calver by Marquee from the Broomhouse Herd of Messrs Easom. Churning out 46kg she went to Messrs Neville of Matlock.

The Easom family continued their successful run with a lovely group of heifers that topped at £3100 for an Entity daughter giving 30kg to Messrs Hutchinson of Weston Underwood, with a second at £3020 to A Mayer of Brown Edge and a third at £3000 again to Messrs Neville.

However it was a heifer from Michael Wainwright by Secretariat that lead the Pedigrees at £3180 also to Messrs Hutchinson.

This superb trade produced an average of £2307 for all of the milkers.

The top price for the day came within the herd dispersal for Phillip and Jean Brocklehurst of Mobberley. An exceptional cow by ABS Achiever attracted a lot of interest with John Bayley eventually clinching her at £3300. In all 12 passed the £2000 mark in the herd sale.

Stock Bulls of all breeds were keenly sought after with young Pedigree Simmentals to £2800 and £2550 and a 3⅟2 year old Angus to £2000.

Young calves from A Myatt reached £370.

Overall the results speak for themselves. 10 passed £3000 with 44 over £2000 with 171 sold!

What a trade!! The first through the ring from H Whitfield reached £2480 and that just set the trend

for the entire sale.Time and time again animals passed the £2000 mark with a heifer from regular vendors MessrsBennett topping the day at £2580 with their other two reaching £280 and £2120.

Two heifers from Michael Wainwright both reached £2480. A huge entry of milk next week including over 50 milkers already entered in the Pedigree Sale and in addition to that we have the Herd Sale of 76 very milky Holsteins on behalf of Phillip Brocklehurst.

At the end of the day we have a SHORT NOTICE Herd Sale of 40 Holstein Friesians and Brown Swiss from Messrs Rodmell of Beverley. Cubicles and Herringbone with services to the Aberdeen Angus. Genuine little herd for the more commercial man.
