The dispersal sale on behalf of Mrs Sarah Williams of Cawthorne, Barnsley attracted a substantial socially distanced crowd and with over 600 lots to sell, lots ranged from a pristine 2015 JCB Articulated Telehandler to pots and pans and farm park toys and ride on go karts.

There was a large range of Gates and Sheeted Doors with Heavy Duty Gates up to £70 each, Large Sheeted Doors up to £350 each and a superb set of 8 Galvanised Stock Yard Division Gates with heavy duty frames and drop posts at a superb £1,780.  The Galvanised IAE Comfort Cubicles achieved up to £1,060 per run (29 steel sections).

There was wide interest in the very smart 20ft Steel Export Container which went to a Derbyshire purchaser at £1,720.

Jowett House Farm had been the site of a Maize Maze for many years and the pedal go karts with adjustable seating achieved up to £150 each with various outdoor toys etc up to £240 per lot. 

The Hoeker 6m x 15m Alloy Framed Structured Marquee achieved a massive £5,400 with the single axle JF Caterers Van at £5,700.

The farms’ New Holland 945 Conventional Baler achieved £2,600 with the New Holland D1010 Crop Cutter Big Square Baler at £5,100 and a set of wide Simba Ring Rolls at £5,800.

The Amazone UF1501-24 Metre Mounted Sprayer had seen little work in recent years and achieved a very pleasing £10,450.

There was wide interest in Trailers with the Richard Western 12 Ton Tipping Trailer selling for £5,750 and the Ifor Williams 14ft Triaxle Livestock Trailer at £3,300.

Undoubtedly the star of the show was the farms’ 2015 JCB TM 320s Telehandler which had undertaken 3,700 hours and achieved a massive £50,800.

The Case 5140 4WD on an R plate with 10,000 hours sold for £14,700 with the Case 5120 4WD with Trima Loader (N Plate) – 9,000 hours at £11,000.

Within the included items:-

A smart John Deere 2850 4WD with Loader on a J Plate showing 9,400 hours achieved a very pleasing £8,200 with a Westwood T1800 Ride On Mower at £455, a Loddon Cattle Crush at £500 and a Pottinger 3m Power Harrow at £1,820.

Excellent trade for pristine Massey’s at Midlands Dispersal

The sale held on behalf of the Bagshaws team at Shepherd’s Farm for the Hill Family saw support from an extremely wide area including Scotland, Wales, Devon, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and all surrounding counties.

Probably the best sale of pristine Masseys in the Midlands for some years, saw the families four Massey Fergusons 5712 & 7715 series tractors attract wide interest as the most used model had undertaken only 356 hours work on sale day.

All the equipment was an absolute credit to the family and had been kept in extremely good condition with several items having undertaken virtually no work.

In the small section:-

  • Small Trolley Jacks to £110
  • Ferguson 9-hole draw bars to £28 each
  • Set of 7000 series MF window guards to £130.

Larger items commanded high prices including: –

Various of the Massey Ferguson grassland implements had seen little work with the Massey Ferguson DM 287 SL Mounted Disc Mower at £4,400, Massey Ferguson RK 4.21 DN Mounted Rake £4,460, and a superbly kept 11-year-old Kuhn GF 6502 Mounted 6 Rotor Tedder £6,900.

The Massey Ferguson Round Baler had undertaken around 700 bales from new and was a 2018 model and achieved £17,000, with the McHale 991 BE Trailed Round Bale Wrapper at £7600.

Henton and AS Marston trailers were the order of the day at Shepherds Farm, with a run of eight excellent trailers being 8 tonne models ranging from £4,600 to £4,900 and three AS Marston 8 tonne Grain Trailers up to £6,280 each.

The farms New Holland TC 56 Combine had undertaken only 1920 engine hours from new and achieved £19,000.

Undoubtedly the stars of the show were the four superb Massey Ferguson tractors, with the MF 5712 SL c/w MX T408 power loader (67 plate – 356 hours) at £46,000, the newer MF 5712 S 4WD Dyna 4 (105 hours worked- 20 plate) £46,900.

Within the higher horse power models the MF 7715S 4WD Dyna 6 (313 hours -19 plate) at £65,300 and a less worked 7715S 4WD Dyna 6 (only 193 hours worked – 19 plate) at £66,500.

The farms Honda Quad Bike had been owned from new with road kit and on a 12 plate having undertaken only 477 km from new achieved an outstanding £3,340.

Within the non-vat items there was a full range of antiquities and collectables including a Rudge Ladies Cycle at £95, a mini hand garden roller at £230, a BCS petrol driven powered rotavator at £520, two vintage fuel cans £88 and an old wooden sack truck at £48.

Several local vendors included items, with a Leyland 272 Synchro at £2800, a Landini 120 Legend 4WD (03 plate) at £12,700, and a very clean locally owned Massey Ferguson 4255 4WD (4200 hours – 51 plate) at £15,500.

A hot Tuesday market including the monthly Pedigree Dairy sale. It was a bouncy trade with a mixed show of cattle, however plenty of buyers forward selling up to £2200 in the Pedigree section for a heifer, with commercials up to £2220.

SHORTHORNS TO £2780

Well what a day, a full shed of dairies which included the dispersal on behalf of Martin Tidmarsh drew a tremendous amount of interest and met a very fast trade.

Commercials topped at £1920 for a powerful heifer from John Platts of Bamford with a second from the same home at £1900.

The dispersal had something for everyone featuring strong black and whites along with Martins pedigree Foldspride shorthorn herd. The first through the ring reached £2100 for a powerful Holstein heifer to Messrs Neville.

However, it really was the shorthorns that dominated the day with all categories selling well beyond expectations. Within the milkers an 87 point heifer Cotonhall Jackpot Starlet, due again in August to the Angus met spirited bidding as was eventually clinched by Messrs Jepson to join their newly established Rowanmoor Herd at £2780. They also went on to take Foldspride Lilac 2, an Oxton Lord Foggathorpe heifer at £2600 and Amber Lucina 108 at £2350.

The In-calf heifer Foldspride Lady Rose, previously a National Calf champion reached £1940 to Messrs Clews of Biddulph Moor with another Foldspride Dairymaid making £1920 to Messrs Thomason of Norbury.

The youngstock displayed tremendous style with a yearling heifer Foldspride Starlet creating lots of interest and eventually being purchased by Tom Malkin of Stone at £1580.

Rob Kite invested back into his own Prunella family purchasing the February born calf Foldspride Prunella by Beckney Graham for £1050 with others to £880.

The milkers averaged a superb £1402 with every life averaging out at £1256!

The Macer Brothers dispersal sale at Oak Tree Farm, Thorpe in the Glebe in Wysall, Notts attracted wide interest and as everything was for genuine dispersal due to retirement, purchasers arrived from the local area together with Wales, Yorkshire, Staffordshire and as far afield as Essex.

  • AS Marston Trailers were 8 Ton Models c/w Silage Sides and sold for up to £3,100 each

A lot of interest from both Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire the Hi-Spec 1000 Barrel Spreader made an excellent £4,200 and was purchased by a farmer from Burton on Trent.
The farms John Deere 324A Mounted Mower Conditioner sold for £3,900 with the John Deere 590 round baler at £3,600.
The farms Bateson Twin Axle Livestock Trailer was in excellent order and sold at £2,550 with the Ford Ranger 4 Door (54 Plate) at £3,550.

In the tractor section the Massey Ferguson 590 2WD on an X Plate was a strong trade at £5,600 with the John Deere 6400 4WD (P Plate) at £16,500 and the John Deere 6430 4WD c/w 633 Loader (12 Plate) at an excellent £35,600.

  • Tractor weights and attachments saw spirited bidding with a John Deere front weight block at £720.
  • A set of 8 MF 100 Series Front Slab Weights at £210
  • 10 Old MF Front Weights at £230

Within the included section;
Extra local tractors included a Ford 4610 4WD (B Plate) at £5,600 and a John Deere 1120 (H Reg-older restoration) at a superb £6,400.
A Martin Lishman trailed Quad Bike Sprayer c/w Ball Hitch and manual Booms sailed away at £1,320.
