A small entry of Dairies sold on a very good trade for the quality forward with the best heifers selling up to £1950, with in-calf heifers to £1800.

Machinery Dispersal Report-Elnor Lane Farm, Whaley Bridge

“Fast Trade Under Extreme Weather Conditions at Whaley Bridge Dispersal”

The Bagshaws team were out again in extremely wet and poor conditions to hold the retirement dispersal on behalf of Mr Andrew and Mr Martin Shuker trading as G & D Shuker and Sons of Elnor Lane Farm, Whaley Bridge in the High Peak.
Purchasers travelled from a wide area including North Wales, Nottinghamshire and Herefordshire as the items were for genuine dispersal and the family were renowned for keeping their items in very good order with the principal John Deere Tractors and JCB Telehandler being in excellent condition.

Within the smaller items;

There was a wide range of IAE Galvanised equipment including IAE 6 Bar Hurdles in fours c/w slide gate at £880 per lot. An IAE Galvanised Crush at £1,220.


Within the machinery section;

Grassland Equipment was extremely well bid;

  • Krone Trailed Mower Conditioner £10,500
  • 1980’s Bateson Silage Trailers to £2,100

There was wide interest in the extremely well-kept o.b.e 2200 Gallons Single Axle Vacuum Tanker which achieved £12,100 to a Skipton Farmer.

As detailed above, the JCB and John Deere equipment had been very well cared for with the farms JCB 527-58 Telehandler having undertaken only 2200 Hours at £38,200. The small JCB 806 Digger with open frame achieved a very pleasing £6,550 together with the buckets grossing £7,000 in total.


A late 1960’s Massey Ferguson 135 ‘F’ Reg achieved a superb £5,000 and sold to a Herefordshire purchaser.
The first of the John Deere’s was a 5820 4WD at £15,400 with a modern classic John Deere 6430 with 40KPH transmission and only 3,272 hours at £37,800. A very smart John Deere 6150M (13 Plate with only 2,504 hours) at £47,200.


Within the collectables, there was much interest in the Stoneware etc with a large stone trough at £1,600 and a quarter section stone apple press at £1,000.

Leek Market Report

There was certainly something for everybody in the dairy shed on Tuesday both in the variation of breeds on offer along with the various categories of dairies alongside the milkers which included In-calf heifers, bullers, yearlings and calves.

The day started with two lovely Dairy Shorthorn calves from the Broadlane herd of Gary Norbury which reached £310 and £260 respectively.

Milkers were a solid trade with trade topping at £2300 for a really stylish ABS Theory daughter from the Alsopdale herd of Andrew and Joanna Bunting.

Andrew Weston of Litton saw his Goodwhone daughter make £2130 and Andrew Broadley of New Haven watched his red and white heifer reach £2000. Plenty of others were in the £1800-£2000 bracket.

Another entry of youngstock from the Havendale Herd of the Flower family were much sought after with 8 month old heifers to £660 and calves to £580.

A beauty of a Hereford Bull from Geoff Goodwin of Wetley Rocks reached £1900.

Machinery Dispersal-Home Farm, Middleton By Youlgrave

“Records Broken by the Bagshaws Team at Recent Derbyshire Dispersal”

There was exceptional support for the joint dispersal at Home Farm, Middleton by Youlgrave on behalf of Claire Sutton and Louise Fletcher where nearly 630 lots were sold on the 14th May.

The highlight of the sale was the genuine Land Rover 90 which had been purchased new by Claire and Louise’s father, the late David Twigg of Hartle Moor Farm.

Within the small lots;

  • Heavy Duty RSJ’s to £1,000 per lot
  • Steel Tip Skips to £230 each
  • Shepherdess Milk Feeder Unit £55
  • Mosa Generator Welder Unit £600
  • Longhorn 12v Battery Powered Shearer Unit £300

The Galvanised Tripod Fibre Sided Leg Bin within the yard sold at £1,000 and the team then moved onto an extensive range of galvanised second-hand Penning Sections for both sheep and cattle usage.


Short Galvanised Sheep Pen Sections to £65 per lot, with longer Galvanised Pen Sections in units of 5 up to £290 per lot. The Heavy Duty Lamb Adopter Pens c/w fronts and three Heavy Duty Side Hurdles attracted a lot of interest to top at £120 per set, with others at £115 and £110. IAE Wheeled Lamb Creep Units Up to £210 each with the Portequip Twin Side Hogg Feeders on legs up to £680 each. Galvanised 15ft gates up to £90 each.

In the tractor sundries and small machinery pairs of 24ins JCB Wheels up to £430 per set with a Heavy Duty JCB Headstock at £270 and slide on pallet tines at £140 for the pair. A set of seven Ford Front Slab Weights achieved £260 with a set of 10 Agco 55kg weights at £400 and an old set of 40 Series John Deere Front Weights at £400.


In the machinery, the 20ft Alloy Livestock Container on Single Axle Tractor Pulled Trailer achieved £3,650, with the virtually unused Alligator Mobile Sheep Race System in superb order at an excellent £8,300.

There was wide interest in the larger machines with the Kuhn GF5801 6 Rotor Tedder at £2,900, the Claas liner 680 Trailed Rake at £5450, and the John Deere 644 Round Baler at £6,550.


The McHale 991 BE Trailed Wrapper had seen little work and made a superb £6400.

Both locals and purchasers from far away bid extremely strongly on the trailers with the Herbst Twin Axle Blue Agri Dump Trailer £6400 and a West 2000 Dual spreader at £5500.

Undoubtedly the star of the show was the Land Rover Defender on a 65 plate with Ifor Williams canopy and only 29,100 miles on the clock. As detailed above it had been purchased new by the late David Twigg. There were many bidders for this very clean vehicle and after a considerable bidding war this was purchased by a Congleton purchaser for a record £30,100.


The Massey Ferguson 6480 saw spirited bidding from both Derbyshire, Yorkshire, and Staffordshire and eventually was purchased by a Skipton based farmer for £30,600. The John Deere 6150M with front linkage achieved £35,800 and the 16 year-old JCB 53560 Telehandler went to Herefordshire at £17,000.


The included items were all from local vendors with the genuine dispersal of the late Ian Hill’s items from Bents Farm at Totley.


The Land Rover 90 from a Leek farmer with 92,000 miles achieved £6,350 with the late Ian Hill’s JCB Digger selling at £7,000 and his Manitou MLT 630 Telehandler at £10,850.


Larger local items including Fraser Twin Axle Silage Trailers sold well, up to £2,550 with a Claas Disco 300 Mower at £1,500, Henton Flat Bale Trailer £3,400, NC 11 Ton Silage Trailer £8,050, Shelbourne 1600 Power Spreader £7,400, and a 10 Tine Heavy Duty Cone & Pin FYM Grab at £800.


There were many bidders for the antiquities and Non-Vat collectables, with cast iron round pig troughs complete with hoops up to £280 each, stone troughs up to £680 and a modern steel patio set at £220.

Leek Market Report

A buoyant trade throughout on Tuesday saw a very smart heifer from David Brailsford to £2000 with numerous more in the £1800 – £2000 bracket. The stock of crossbred cows from Messrs Kennerley sold exceptionally well, topping at £1700 to average a superb £1378.

Numerous buyers were in attendance for the in-calf heifers from Ivydene herd of Messrs Cresswell. They topped at £1630 to average £1514.

The dispersal sale on behalf of Porter Brothers held by Bagshaws on the 7th May attracted wide interest. The socially distanced gathering for this outside event saw everything sold from the elevated mobile rostrum and purchasers from as far afield as North Wales, Anglesey and Scotland and the South of England.

Within the early lots;

  • Portequip Covered Calf Creeps to £500 each
  • 20ft Heavy Duty Cattle Barrier Sections in pairs to £400 per pair
  • Bateman Tamar Galvanised Heavy Duty Beef Cattle Crush £1,500
  • Armstrong and Holmes Mobile Cattle Handling System with drop down Crush achieved £2,500
  • Pair of Galvanised 14ft Troughs up to £150 per pair

Within the tractor sundries;

  • Bale Wrap Spool Holder sold at £220
  • With a Set of Rear and Front LGP Wheels at £1,080

Machinery was very much in demand with;

  • The Heavy Flat Roller at £1,200
  • Orsi 2.8 Metre Mounted Flail Topper at £2,700
  • Bomford Hawk Flail Hedge Cutter £5,600
  • Opico 6 Metre Folding Tine Harrow sold at £5,500
  • Kuhn FC302G Mower Conditioner at a superb £9,800 after bidding from Anglesey, Forfar in Scotland and locally.

All the farms equipment had been very well maintained with the;

  • Claas 2100 Quadrant Baler at £13,500
  • Kuhn SW 4004 Intelliwrap Trailed Wrapper at £19,000

Arable Kit sold very well;

  • Opico HEVA 3 Metre Front Press with directional headstock £6,600.
  • Spalding 3 Leg Flat Lift at £6,000.
  • Moore 4 Metre Unidrill at £10,200
  • Kuhn 3 Metre Power Harrow (HR3004) at £8,000
  • Kuhn Venta 3 Metre Combi-Drill Unit c/w HR303 Power Harrow at £15,000.

Within the Trailer Selection the best Ken Wootton Grain and Silage Trailers being 11- and 10-ton models respectively achieved £4,100 and £4,900 but the stars of the trailers were undoubtablythe very well kept Portequip Twin Axle Bale Trailers which achieved £9,100 and £9,250 respectively.

The Teagle 8500 Trailed Straw Blower was in excellent order and was sold locally for £6,400.

As detailed above, the tractors telehandler and modern classic machines attracted wide interest with the;

Modern Type Machines had Front Linkages;

  • New Holland T7-200 (62 Plate) at £48,800

Manitou telehandlers were the chosen brand at the Hill Farm with the MLT 7030 LS Turbo (W Plate) at £13,000 and a very much more modern MLT 635-130 PST (67), at a massive £47,400.
