Thursday Lunchtime Sheep Sale
Leek Market Report – Tuesday 5th January 2021
A really good entry of milkers forward for the first sale of the year.
Trade was unsurprisingly not quite at the heady heights of recent weeks however was still solid throughout.
Topping the day at £2040 was a pretty 30kg heifer from the Hodgkinson family of Earl Sterndale.

Leek Market Report – Tuesday 29th December
*Dairies To £2320*
*5 Over £2000*
The snow did not stop vendors or purchasers on Tuesday with another bouncy trade which saw the best to £2320 and 5 over £2000.
Regular vendor Richard Thompson of Sudbury topped at £2320 with his Wiltor Cruise heifer with Malcolm Trevor-Jones close behind with another heifer at £2260. He also had a second calver to £2040. A third calver from Richard Sidebottom reached £1980.
A pretty heifer from John Allan of Tutbury made £2120.
More numbers are needed to satisfy demand so please get in touch if you have stock to sell
Leek Market Report – Tuesday 22nd December
*Top of £2430*
*14 Over £2000 – Av £1843*
A lovely entry of 33 milkers for the last sale before Christmas saw another blistering trade with a top of £2430 and 14 passing the £2000 mark.
Topping the day at £2430 was Malcolm Trevor-Jones of Oswestry with an exceptional second calver giving 45kg. Close behind at £2330 was another second calver from Richard Thompson of Sudbury. Two heifers from Richard Lomas of Calow both reached £2280 with two others also from M Trevor-Jones and R Thompson to £2220. The overall entry averaged a superb £1843.
It is a normal market nest week with many entries already promised. If you have cows to get to sell, get in touch!

Gailey Lea Farm Report (on behalf of Abbey Farms) – 18th December 2020
The out of season pre Christmas sale held on behalf of Abbey Farms by
Bagshaws was a resounding success.
Social distancing was achieved on site and everyone pulled together with superb results.
Customers were represented from as far afield as Somerset, Wales, North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire as well as all surrounding countries.
Leek Market Report – Tuesday 15th December
A phenomenal show of dairies this year, and what a trade, with the whole entry averaging £1981 and 30 over £2000. Thank you to all our customers for their support & patience with the pandemic this year. The Champion Dairy Heifer went to Sterndale Regiment Masquerade from the Nadin family of Earl Sterndale, selling at £2680. Reserve Champion was shown by Norman Mellor & family of Earl Sterndale with another superb heifer selling for £2450.
