A bright, breezy and sunny day with an excellent venue saw a fast trade when the late John Spencer’s items together with other vendors kit was sold at Grouse Cottage Farm between Ashover and Matlock.

“Exceptional Machinery at Edale Dispersal with strong prices and a large crowd”

The dispersal on behalf of Mr & Mrs Robin Metcalfe at Hardenclough Farm, Hope Valley saw a superb range of equipment for genuine dispersal and a large crowd including customers from as far afield as Tow Law in County Durham and North Wales and Cumbria together with all surrounding counties.

The family have farmed the unit since 1971 and their attention to detail and pride in keeping their equipment in good order was definitely shown in the prices achieved for their sale items.

There was wide interest in the livestock trailers, Honda Quad and Equipment with the Nugent 14ft Tri-axle Livestock Trailer achieving an excellent £5,020 and travelling North into Lancashire. The Ifor Williams 10ft Twin Axle Low Level Sheep Trailer achieving £3,560 and the superb Honda TRX520 Automatic 4WD Quad Bike having only 480 hours worked and being 2020 registered at a fantastic price of £5,850.

The excellent Case Farmall 105 4WD tractor achieved a superb £37,400 with the equally well kept Manitou 625-75 H Telehandler being four years old and achieving an excellent £37,000 to a South Staffordshire farmer.

INKERSALL HERD DISPERSAL TO 3000gns

21 OVER 2000gns

There was huge support for the Inkersall Dispersal at Leek Dairy Centre on Thursday with cows being an excellent trade from start to finish. Topping at £3000, 21 past the £2000 mark with the milkers averaging a superb £1840 (without calves).

A tremendous heifer Inkersall Dairymaid 45 by Denovo Julep reached 3000gns. Calved in July she had recently classified 85 points and was sold giving 41kg. She went to Messrs Hulme of Basford.

Hot in pursuit was another Julep daughter, Inkersall Nannette 97. Fresh in August she boasted an EX90 dam and was clinched by Messrs Swindells of Chelmorton.

The Pel Eva family was very much admired and a heifer by K & L Rambler reached £2800 also to Messrs Hulme.

At the same money was the highly impressive cow Inkersall Iloa Rolls 120 EX91, one of the many Rolls in the sale. She boasted 8 generations VG/EX. Calved in June and just served to Sassafras she went to Messrs Swindell.

The stylish stock bull also from the Rolls family drew great interest. By Villy Silvio, the hammer eventually fell at £3350 to Messrs Seals of Shirland.

Every life including 35 heifer calves averaged £1338.

The annual sale held at Grindley by kind permission of Mr Jason Beeson and family saw a very large crowd with bidders from all surrounding counties including Shropshire and North Wales and a wide array of goods on offer including three genuine dispersal sales which were included in the middle of the day.

Leek Market Report

A smaller entry of dairy today but plenty of customers at the ringside and a solid price for all on offer. A very smart Pedigree heifer from the Sternmoor herd of Michael Wainwright topped the day at £2080 and selling locally to a Staffordshire farmer who also secured another heifer from Ernest White & family, Moscar at £1940. Richard Lomas was also in the money with his newly calved heifer at £1920. Cows topped at £1750 for a third calver from Messrs Charlesworth, Bradbourne.
